If you returned your vote-by-mail ballot to your supervisor of elections, but it is unsigned/missing signature or there is a signature discrepancy on the Voter's Certificate/Return Envelope, your ballot will not count unless you complete and return the Vote-by-Mail Ballot Cure Affidavit no later than 5 pm on the day before the election.

Special Mail Ballot Election - May 21, 2019

All registered Volusia County voters will be mailed a ballot.

  • Ballots will be mailed on May 1st.
  • Mail Ballot must be returned to the Department of Elections in DeLand by 7 pm on May 21 to be counted.

To fund projects for county and municipal public facilities restricted to roads, sidewalks, bridges, water quality, stormwater and flood control, and amenities ancillary to those facilities, shall Volusia County Ordinance 2019-4 be approved to levy a one-half cent sales tax for twenty years; and to establish a Citizens Advisory Committee to review the use of proceeds?

VOTER REGISTRATION

Florida residents must be registered to vote at least 29 days before an election to be eligible to vote in that election.

  • For persons who are not already registered to vote in Volusia County, the deadline to register to vote in the May 21, 2019 Special Mail Ballot Election is Monday, April 22, 2019.
  • Call or visit the Department of Elections between 8 am and 5 pm, Monday-Friday to obtain a voter registration application or click here.
  • You may also visit any Volusia County library or city hall to obtain a voter registration application.

SIGNATURE UPDATE

It is very important to update your signature on file, as it may
change throughout the years for various reasons.

  • Your signature on file is used to verify signatures on petitions, vote-by-mail ballots and provisional ballots. If your signature does not match, your petition or ballot may not count.
  • To update your signature, simply complete a voter registration application and submit to the Department of Elections.
  • A Power of Attorney is not valid for voting.

LOGIC AND ACCURACY TESTING OF THE VOTING EQUIPMENT

In accordance with Florida Statute 101.5612, notice is provided that there will be a public, pre-election test of the automatic tabulating equipment which will be used during the May 21, 2019 Special Mail Ballot Election.

  • The public test will be held at 8 am on May 15, 2019 at the Department of Elections Office, Historic Courthouse, 125 W. New York Ave., DeLand, Florida.

CANVASSING OF BALLOTS

In accordance with Florida Statute 101.5614, the Volusia County Canvassing Board will convene on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at 8 am and from day to day thereafter until the election results are certified and the required audit is performed.

  • The Canvassing Board meetings are held at the Department of Elections Office, Historic Courthouse, 125 W. New York Ave., DeLand, Florida.
